The Periodic Table Of The DJ was originally produced as a limited edition Giclee fine art print to commemorate the 30 year anniversary of the Second Summer Of Love in 2018. . The artist sought to create a visual representation chronicling the evolution of the Disc Jockey, from Thomas Edison inventing the Phonograph in 1887, right up to the key protagonists in the Second Summer of Love in 1988 the moment when the touch paper of modern Club culture was lit.The original print run has sold out, so for 2021 Misfit has made an updated edition which widens the history to1989 including many more key figures and a new design. With a love of club culture, dance music, history and generally connecting the dots the artist was influenced by the books ‘Last Night A DJ Saved My Life’ ‘Love Saves The Day’, Bass Mid Tops, State of Bass…various blogs, websites and endless forum debates (and arguments) on the origins of the DJ.
Misfit has represented the key protagonists chronologically and graphically in the form of a Periodic Table of the DJ. The journey across the table takes in the inventors, pioneers, clubs, DJs, soundsystem selectors, northern soul champions, disco behemoths, hip hop heroes, european innovators, rare groovers, house trailblazers, balearic originals, techno groundbreakers, proto-junglists and various chancers.
Each piece is a limited edition Giclee fine art print on heavyweight 300 gsm textured paper…and has been signed, stamped and numbered by the artist.
For 2021 there is a new revised edition available in A1 and A2. sizes, limited to a run of 50
